The sale of a home is not simply a procedure where you pick a sales representative, have a quick discussion with them, sign the documents and then sit back and relax as people flock to your property cheque book in hand.  A lot goes on behind the scenes and choosing the right realtor that can provide the best options for you is essential.  When listing your home you need to consider:

  • Your home is unique, so you need a sales rep that can communicate this
  • Marketing a home is complicated and requires a large skill set
  • Your rep has to be accessible and someone you can relate to
  • You should be able to prove your agent is working hard for you

This last point is something I would like to emphasize.  There are a lot of real estate agents out there.  Many of these have the title but not the experience, motivation or skill set.  As a home seller you need to be sure you have the hard worker on your side that relentlessly markets your property until the sold sign goes up!
